Proven Success: students go on to exceed their teachers' and their own expectations

No two students are alike, so perhaps it isn't surprising that school teachers can struggle to address all their students' questions and concerns in maths. Maths is a subject that can be approached in a range of different ways: some students, for instance, think of most problems visually, and only really understand a problem when they can see what is going on. Others find this unhelpful, and need things explained with pen and paper. Some students only understand when they've seen real-world examples, while others need theoretical explanations. I look at how each student learns best, and tailor my lessons and explanations so that each student gains a deeper understanding of the subject.

Individual lessons with a private tutor can often be what a student needs to fulfil their potential in maths. With large classes and limited lesson time at school, it's no wonder that many are left with unanswered questions. It can be very disheartening and frustrating to sit in a class and not understand what the teacher is saying. The opportunity to sit with a tutor and go through the topics they haven't understood at school makes a huge difference to a student's confidence and ability in any subject. This is especially so in maths, where it is sometimes hard to progress if the basic concepts and methods are not fully understood. Remarkable progress can be made with a bit of extra support from a tutor.

The final piece in the jigsaw: making sense of maths

Sometimes just a little individual support can be all that is needed to make huge leaps forward in grades and confidence. My students have consistently achieved well in their exams and school-work  and exceeded their expectations in maths. Many of my students have gone from grades of C or B up to A's and A*'s. I have also helped students gain entry into the schools they wanted to go to, and get the grades they needed to get into university. Have a look at the testimonials that students and parents have written about me here.

I have detailed knowledge of all national curriculum courses in maths, and of different exam boards. I have taught maths and further maths A-levels in the Edexcel, OCR and MEI exam boards, as well as GCSE and IGCSE. Within the A-level syllabus I cover all topics, including additional further maths modules. I have also helped students prepare for entrance exams to many of the UK's top selective schools.
